The Week In Pictures

It feels like forever since I last did my ‘A Day In The Life’ post and even though that was an absolute pain to make, it’s still one of my favourite posts to look back on. Cue me thinking a ‘Week In Pictures’ post would be a fun idea (*it was actually way harder than I thought*).

No long recaps here because honestly who has time for that? So here’s just a few little snippets of what happens behind The Sunday Mode and some highlights of things I got up to throughout the week, omitting (most of) the painfully boring things and sharing a few trade secrets along the way.

Hopefully you enjoy!

The Commute Routine.
I always feel like I never have time for anything and like I’m always racing against the clock (cue anxiety) but I do actually have sort of a secret weapon routine that really helps me out.

Back in my university days I would use all of my train commutes as opportunities to get things done. That habit has stuck with me like glue so if you’ve ever wondered what I do when I’m on the train or in the car as a passenger, wonder no more. I usually always whip out my phone to try and do things like sort through my calendar/emails, make to-do lists or catch up on blogs. The Bloglovin mobile app + a 20min car journey and I’ve been seriously productive.

The Foodie’s Dream.
In general Tuesday was a honestly a pretty ‘blah’ day (you know the ones) but the highlight was by far this Acai bowl, let’s not even talk about how sad that is. This particular acai was from a really cute little place that does takeaway Acai bowls and a bunch of other smoothies and juices. I got mine blended with almond milk and topped with granola, banana and fresh blueberries. I actually felt a whole lot better about everything after this. Is there anything an Acai bowl can’t fix? What can I say, food must just have that effect on me.

The Clear Out.
I’d been putting it off for a few months but I finally sorted through my wardrobe and got rid of a bunch of clothes, streamlining everything so that choosing what to wear in the morning was no longer a nightmare. I was wildly throwing all the clothes I no longer wanted on my floor and it was actually pretty therapeutic, though in retrospect I probably shouldn’t have thrown the wooden hangers as well because let me tell you, those suckers hurt when they hit your foot.

The Blog Day.
Thursday’s I’m home for the day and my new posts go live each Thursday, so that’s when a lot of my blogging behind the scenes things go down. For someone who loves their phone for daily organising I actually prefer using a paper planner system for keeping track of my blog posts and blog in general. If anyone would be interested in knowing more about how I organise my blog, feel free to let me know in a comment below!

The Friday Morning Adventure.
If you’ve read my ‘10 Ways To Be A Tourist In Your Hometown‘ post then you’ll know that whenever I get a chance I’ve been trying to get out and see more of my own city. I had a free morning Friday so I decided to visit the Eureka Tower/Skydeck, an iconic skyscraper that supposedly has some of the best views of Melbourne. I can officially tick that off my Melbourne bucket list.

The Makeup Mess.

For a 22 year old my Saturday was 100% tame and 100% grandma-style. Lately I’ve been in one of those moods where I just want to overhaul my life and clear everything out that I’m not using, so I spent most of Saturday cleaning and organising my makeup stash. It actually felt really good to cull some of my makeup, some of my lipsticks had been there for so long they were starting to develop a fuzz….

The Granola From Heaven.
My Sundays basically include all of my favourite things rolled into one, starting with this incredible granola which I’m just going to spend a few moments drooling over as I edit this post…
If you want to know the nitty gritty details feel free to pop on over to my Day In The Life post, but let’s just say I was happy my birthday fell on a Sunday this year.

Let me know if you enjoy these types of posts, what did you get up to this week?

Haha I remember going to the Eureka Skydeck when I was in year 10 (?? I think, it's so long ago now) and we took one of those gimmicky tourist photos too! I'd love to head back to Melbourne some time soon, if not for the hip cafes + food all around ;-D

Love this post! Like the nosey person I am I love seeing what everyone gets up to outside of the 'blogosphere.' Your week definitely looks a whole more interesting than (perils of working 9-5 I guess!) I am exactly the same when I am commuting. That is easily the best time to catch up on emails, blog posts etc. it really makes you feel so darn organized! I have also been doing a bit of clear out recently, it's very very therapeutic! xxx

P.s all that granola talk seriously has me craving some now!

Please do make a post on your blog organization! I'm seriously a mess in that! I try so hard but as a student, sometimes I just can't get all done, and I know it's because of my lack of organization. Love all the pictures, and that acas bowl looked amazing! Can you believe I've never tried one of those? I'm not sure where to get acai here in Mexico, I guess it's not very common. Sending you love!
Indie Suns | Bloglovin' | Instagram

    • If you can track one down you should definitely try one! I know you can buy the frozen acai smoothie packs online, my sister does that and she just makes herself acai bowls at home all the time 🙂

After all the feedback I've already started working on a post about how I organise my blog, so keep your eyes peeled!

Thanks for the lovely comment Ana x

I can imagine these posts being difficult to make, but the outcome is great! Being productive when you can on commutes is a really good idea too. Sometimes long journeys can feel like a waste of time, so I'm going to try and do this more myself. I'm the same as you when it comes to planning, you can't beat a good pen and paper. Also your diary looks like complete perfection, I'd definitely love to know how you organise your blog.:) – The Kylie Jenner Lip Kit – Unboxing, Review and Swatches

    • Yeah that's how I felt too, I was sick of always feeling like I wasted my time on commutes so that's why I started the little routine.

Thank you so much! I'll try and include how I organise my blog diary in the post I wrote about organisation 🙂

  59. There's so much to love here! The acai bowl sounds amazing, but that view is incredible! I definitely need to have a wardrobe clearout too x

    Martha Jane |

    • I almost feel like now that the seasons are changing I want to clear out my wardrobe again. Actually to be honest I go through these waves where I just want to re-do my whole wardrobe!

  60. i use my commute to work to also catch up on emails, or bloglovin and instagram. also i whatsapp friends around the world.

i agree throwing out old clothing is so therapeutic, i went through my wardrobe a few weeks ago and it felt good to get rid of clothes I never wore

  61. I adore the idea of doing a post like this! I will try out doing a day in my life and perhaps move on to a week (I know what you mean, the idea of doing something like this is a lot simpler than the actual implementation!).

I loved having a sneak peak into your week Julia, plus that Acai Bowl looks so divine. I love how simple your bed is too – I have been rocking white sheets and it makes my room look so breezy and minimalist. xx

    • It's exactly like that. Writing the posts isn't so hard but when it comes to taking the photos, it took me so much longer than I expected! Not to mention every time I went to do something I had to keep remembering to bring my camera. In the end even though these kinds of posts are hard to make, they're always some of my favourites to look back on 🙂

  62. As much of a pain as they are to create, some of my favorite reads are a "A Day in the Life" posts of fellow bloggers, so thanks for sharing! Also, I'd love a post on how you organize your blog/posts, behind the scenes, etc.

  72. Wow, what a nice week layout. Thanks for sharing your blogging post notebook. What are Edit, L&BL. I think P and I are Pinterest and Instagram. Going to get a notebook, I love paper too. Thanks!

  73. Ok, I'm officially stealing your planner idea 😀

  74. Your planner is easy and straight to the point. I love it!!! So you said on Thursdays is when you work on your posts, so do you schedule them for the next Thursday or they go live the same day? Also how did you manage to change your blogger blog to this beautiful minimalistic layout? Tips please

    • I'm glad you like my planner set up Tracey, I've actually got a post coming up in the next few days going over all the details of how I stay organised with my blog etc. Long story short- I plan everything quite a few weeks in advance so my posts do go live on Thursdays but I work on them weeks before they actually get posted (if that makes sense!).

My blog layout is just the basic blogger layout I'm fairly certain, I've just added a few widgets here and there and tweaked the colour of the text and the width of the blog/size of the pictures etc 🙂

Feel free to shoot me an email if you want me to go into more detail with anything!
