Ever since I wrote my ‘5 Reasons Why It Matters What You Wear’ post I’ve been thinking a lot about confidence and the different things aside from my clothes that perk up my mood. While I was doing my usual beauty routine this week I realised that a lot of my skincare and makeup products also play a pretty big role in lifting my confidence as well. So (drum roll please) here are 4 of my favourite confidence boosting products-
For clearer skin: Mario Badescu Drying Lotion
AKA magic in a bottle. It’s a concoction of salicylic acid with calamine (the pink stuff) and despite the temptation you don’t shake the bottle you just dip in a cotton tip and apply as needed. This stuff is the only thing I’ve ever found that actually heals my spots and it heals them quickly too. Try and only apply it to your actual spots though because I find whenever it hits unblemished skin it does have a little sting to it, nothing major but nothing super pleasant either.
PS, if you accidentally mix the solution or shake the bottle just leave it out for a while and it will separate again. Don’t freak out and have a hissy fit like I did the first time and run out to buy a new bottle.
For brighter skin: Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel
I can safely say that if you’re looking for immediate brightening results then this is the cleanser for you. It’s a gel cleanser but as you work it into the skin it turns into an oil which means this really nourishes and as soon as I wash it off my skin definitely has a glow to it. I feel strange even typing that because to be honest no product has ever given me such immediate brightening results like this does and there are no words to describe what that does for my confidence.
For longer lashes: Chantecaille Faux Cils Mascara
I wear this whenever I want my lashes to look their best. It’s not going to win any awards in the volume department and it comes with a hefty price tag, but this gives me long, fluttery lashes with a touch of volume and no clumps so I keep coming back to it. There are a lot of black mascaras on the market but this makes my lashes jet black which I think makes them pop a little more as well.
For smoother lips: Dior Creme De Rose
Would this work on dry lips? Yes. Would this work on extremely chapped lips? Sure would. Does this heal lips that are so dry that they’re literally on the verge of bleeding? Yep, that’s exactly what this does for me. It’s a thick, nourishing, rose scented balm that I apply before bed to wake up with plump, soft and moisturised lips. Bless you Dior, bless you.
