All The Clothes You Need For 2017

the 2017 fashion edit

Oh how I want some of my favourite fashion bloggers to write a post like this…

With each changing season I feel like I never know what to wear. I mean there are clothes in my wardrobe don’t get me wrong, but I’ll look at them all and just think “meh” and I hate wearing clothes I don’t feel comfortable in. Sadly unless I fancy going around naked all day long (which I imagine would be both freeing and chilly…) then I have to just pick an outfit and wear it regardless, even if
I really don’t want to.

This is the guide to stop those moments from happening, or at least I hope it is!

So for each season in the year, I’ve created a little fashion edit that’ll give you a run down of all of the staple clothes that I think will easily get you through those “What the hell do I wear?” moments. Obviously everyone’s style is different but in my eyes, these are all timeless pieces that can stay in your wardrobe for years to come as well, pieces you can wear again and again. I can almost hear my wallet running away while I type this but… here we go:

(PS, Excuse me while I shop my own blog post)

style pieces for 2017

Camel coat
Turtleneck jumper
Black jeans

style blogger melbourne

fashion blogger the sunday mode
Duster coats
Sweater dresses
Lighter jumpers
Lighter scarves

Over the knee boots

fashion pieces for 2017

Off the shoulder tops
Light shirts
Denim shorts

what to wear when you don't know what to wear

Light trench coat
Light shirts
Blue jeans
Black jeans

fashion pieces for every season

Are there any essentials you’d add to this list?

Love this post and your photos are fabulous!. I want to start looking through those things you've chosen and start shopping ASAP. I'd always been meaning to come up with some sort or list of things I wanted/needed and I think looking at the things you've chosen you've saved me quite a bit of time. Always love reading your blog posts and love the way you write and present things. You have a real talent πŸ™‚

    • You're really too nice Phoebe, thank you so much! I'm about to go back and shop my post too, so I'm really glad you found this helpful and hopefully you'll like the items I picked πŸ™‚

Love this concept!! I am very much a winter gal, and currently its Summer in Aus, so reading this has gotten me REALLY keen for the colder months! Scarves, scarves and more scarves!

  3. Love your outfit – chic and simple. I like new seasons and trends, but also think it is better to buy one item that will last several seasons and will always be a staple then constantly follow all trends and spend all the money !xx

    • Thank you! I tend to feel the same way, I've found over the years that the trend pieces I buy I just end up donating in a few months anyway because I get tired of them.

  4. Lucie Aubry says:

Wow, love this jacket! It looks so special and efortless at the same time!
    Lucie, xx

  5. Love your outfit, I have a similar style to yours =o) I have a few pieces in my wardrobe that are options for all seasons and then a few seasonal pieces. I do like to splurge on some trends, such as the off the shoulder tops! Love those =o)

  6. I love this post! You picked so many beautiful pieces! Also your outfit is so perfect…that blazer is amazing!

OTK boots have been such a lifesaver this winter, actually! It saves me from putting on 1 million layers under my trousers. I hate the transition from winter to spring here though, it's always so confusing and it can be super cold + super stuffy all in a day. Hopefully spring hurries up and I can go out wearing a nice trench and my fave dresses soon.

This is such a good idea for a post. Love those shirts too, so classic. I often wake up and look at my wardrobe like…. meh. I keep thinking about trying the whole capsule wardrobe thing. x

Lovely post! I've always wished I was friends with some of my favorite bloggers in real life so I can just sit them down and ask them for fashion advice, ahahah. Like, I always find myself buying really cute and unique dresses and fancy skirts, that aren't really practical for the day-to-day. So, I needed this. πŸ™‚ Also, you make literally everything look so chic!

    • You're way too kind Julia, but thank you! Ah I seriously wish I could be friends with my favourite fashion bloggers in real life too, I'd probably never stop asking them to go out shopping with me though haha

  26. I always have one of these moments where I stand in front of the wardrobe and complain that I have nothing to wear. I need to get rid of the things I don't wear so I have a space for some pieces that I'd wear all around the year. Totally agree with your classics, if you have these classics then it is easy to come up with something you'd like to wear. Also love your outfit, smart and chic!

  27. Looking so amazing. I love your dazzling style and sooner going to buy this for my lovely sister. Thanks for the post.

  28. These pictures are stunning, such lovely photography and you look lovely of course! This is such a classic outfit, I love those boots, no surprise that they're Asos! They would literally go with so many outfits all year round, a really lovely idea with the seasonal style edits too! I feel the same way, forever indecisive and wondering if my clothes are really "fashionable" enough. Great post πŸ™‚

    Xo Gemma

    • Ah thanks for the love Gemma and thank you for your comments about my photography too!

Asos do some great boots don't they? I really love a lot of their coats too. So happy you liked my little edits as well πŸ™‚

  29. Tatjana says:

Your coat has such a classic cut. I have a similar one in burgundy and I love it.
Amazing shopping choices darling! Every woman needs those staple basic pieces in her wardrobe.
    Happy Friday!

  30. Such a great post! I feel as if I always fail in the fashion department but will definitely be taking some tips from some of what you've chosen!

  31. Your outfit looks so classy! Asos boots are the best!!

  32. My partner and I are planning on having a clothes clear out soon because we have zero wardrobe space and there seems to be piles of clothes just appearing all over the house. Of course, I'm not using this as an excuse to buy more clothes (I totally am), but there are a lot of pieces in this post which caught my eye. I'm usually the type of person that really doesn't make an effort when it comes to fashion – I just throw on what I can find and go – but after seeing these photos of you in that gorgeous blazer, I think I might try a little harder! Great idea for a post!
