25 Things To Do When You’re In Sunday Mode

How have I had my blog for this long and not written a post like this before?

Most people love the weekend, right? Probably because on the weekend they get more time to do the things they actually want to do, whether that be going on more adventures or just chilling out and being a lump on the couch with Netflix your best friends. Not everyone has a 9-5 weekday job though, so Sundays for them may be work work work, and maybe they dedicate a different day during the week as their ‘Sunday,’ AKA a day where they can relax and rejuvenate themselves. My theory is that you can be in sunday mode any day of the week or any time of the day that suits you, so no matter when your Sundays are, take it from the sunday connoisseur, here are 25 things you can do when you’re in sunday mode:

1. Reach out to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while.

2. Read, comment and support other people’s blogs

3. Watch something from your Netflix list.

4. Scroll through Pinterest aimlessly

5. Listen to a podcast

6. Stretch

7. Start a new book series

8. Google search something you’ve always wanted to know about

9. Have a movie marathon and watch one of these must-see films

10. Clean up the desktop on your computer

11. Do some positive affirmations

12. Moisturise everywhere

13. Experiment with the settings on your camera (if you have one)

14. Sketch

15. Search exciting events in your area

16. Back up all important files on your computer

17. Find someone new to follow on Instagram.

18. Set yourself goals for the month ahead

19. Make a workout playlist

20. Take yourself out to brunch

21. Start re-watching one of your all time fav TV series from the beginning

22. Get lost in a bookstore

23. Make a travel bucket list

24. Start watching The Handmaid’s Tale (SO good)

25. When all else fails…take a nap, man

And yes, a lot of these involve watching television and yes, I do love that and yes, that’s my favourite thing to do when I want to relax!

What are your favourite things to do when you’re in sunday mode?

I love all of these ideas. I always view Saturday as the day to get things done on the weekend and Sunday as the day to just chill out and relax. Most of my Sundays are spent doing number 8 and telling anyone who will listen about all the random things I’ve just learnt (I have a habit of googling really mundane subject matters and boring everyone with useless facts about architecture in the 1800s). This Sunday though, I’m doing number 20 and taking myself out to brunch; you can never have enough brunch!

Yes! There’s no such thing as too much brunch and anyone that tells you different is just outright wrong 😉

Oh I do that all the time as well don’t worry, except mine is worse because I listen to the My Favorite Murder podcast and then I end up googling the stories they tell further, and I basically relay the stories from there to anyone who’ll listen :p

I love this concept! I try to have ‘Sunday moments’ throughout the week – cuddle up on the couch beside my hubby at the end of the evening and read a book, take a leisurely shower, watch my favorite show, take time to cook a nice meal for dinner (and take the leftovers to work the next day!)
I think it’s important not to live for the weekend but to live for the moments

I love doing all of those things as well, especially watching my favourite shows 🙂

I completely agree, I always find that when I’m just hanging on for the weekend it’s so depressing, I much prefer to sort of pepper my weekdays with things to look forward to as well!

  • All of these absolutely sound like something I would do (and often have done)… Well except for watching the Handmaid’s tale, though it sounds so interesting!

Oh you have to watch it Anne! It’s probably the best new show I’ve watched the whole year.

  • Lisa Autumn

Oh yes this sounds like the perfect sunday!

      Thanks Lisa 🙂

  • Oh my gosh. This sounds amazing. I wish I could do any of this right now!! Oh yes, TV is deffo one of the things I do to wind down. #kdramas low-key. This was a beautiful post. Simply the most beautifulest content I have seen in a very long time. (simply because i am so busy with college that these suggestions are making me salivate).

haha oh man, it sounds like you’re really in need of a good and classic Sunday where you just chill out all day and do the things you want to do!

  • Alexandra

Sounds like a great Sunday, really need to spend more Sundays doing some of these things. Watching tv is one of my favourite things as well.

    • The Sunday Mode

Love finding other people that love watching TV and movies as much as I do 😉

  • These are all great suggestions for when you’re in Sunday Mode – and like you say, regardless of whether it’s actually Sunday or not! Love your idea of moisturising eeeverywhere; slathering body butter all over myself is one of my fave things to do on a ‘relaxation day’ 🙂

Amen to that girl, especially in the winter time!

  • Because I work Mon-Fri I definitely tend to do blog stuff over the weekends. Not only is it the only time I can take photos during daylight hours, but most of the time I’m too tired during the week to want to do much after work. My boyfriend is also obsessed with going out for breakfast/brunch so we usually do that on Saturday & Sunday as well as catch up on TV if we’re watching anything good. I haven’t seen The Handmaid’s Tale yet but I’ve heard it’s really good so it’s on my list!

    • The Sunday Mode

That’s a pretty good thing out’ve everything for your boyfriend to be obsessed with! Love me a good brunch. Definitely give The Handmaid’s Tale a watch, it’s SO good! I wasn’t really sure what to expect from it (I thought it was going to be old-fashioned?) but I couldn’t have been more wrong. If you do watch it, let me know if you liked it? 🙂

  • I love this! I try do a mix of blog things on a Sunday and slobbing around watching Netflix – a good equal mix!;)
I really need to take some time to get more organised with my blog and scheduling!

    Corrie | Corrie Arnold

    • The Sunday Mode

That sounds like a brilliant equal mix! If I do work I’ll always try and even it out with Netflix at some point too 😉

  • My most favourite play with camera (really want to learn more about taking good photos) and the last one – take a nap – always a good idea! xx

    • The Sunday Mode

I used to hate naps but now I think I’ve been converted, except sometimes some of my ‘naps’ turn into hour long sleeps…

  • The Sunday Mode

Oh for sure! I mean if I’m busy on a Sunday, there’s no way I’m waiting a whole week to start doing these things 😉

  • I love to just keep to myself when I’m in Sunday mode! Especially after working and seeing people, I need the time alone to just chill out and not have anyone around me for a while. 🙂

    • The Sunday Mode

That’s exactly what I’m like after I’ve been around people for a while as well!

  • I’m pretty much in sunday mode today. I like catching up on blogs and replying to comments on my social media etc…Cleaning (although that’s less of something I enjoy and more something that gives me satisfaction at the end). I definitely find myself Googling random things a lot. I’m like the encyclopaedia of random facts that nobody cares about…Ooow and how good is the Handmaid’s Tail! So glad you agree! =D

    • The Sunday Mode

Oh I’m the exact same! I feel like I’m constantly going around saying “fun fact..” to people but yeah…they don’t find my facts that fun. I think just I do.

The Handmaid’s Tale was SO good, it’s probably one of the best shows I’ve watched this year.

  • Movie marathon is one good way of spending your Sunday. Preferably not alone of course. Having a drink maybe with a couple of friends would be nice too.

    • The Sunday Mode

Oh I don’t know, sometimes I’ll do a movie marathon solo and I still enjoy it 🙂

  • I really need to start watching The Handmaid’s Tale – I’ve heard so many amazing things! I think I’ll have to come back to this post on Sunday to remind myself of what I want to do hehe

    • The Sunday Mode

Oh it’s such a good show, start watching it for sure! It completely exceeded my expectations and Elizabeth Moss is brilliant in it 🙂

  • Such good Ideas! You should add watching TedTalks to it I can get stuck on them for hours aha. I think I definitely need to start watching the Handmaids Tale, i’ve been looking for a good tv series for ages now.

    • The Sunday Mode

Oh that’s a great thing to add to this list, you’re so right! I used to listen to Ted Talks and they can be pretty addictive.

  • I love setting new goals and planning out my week ahead on Sundays. Love all of these ideas! I think I’ll take myself out to brunch this weekend 😀

  • I love listening to podcasts on dog walks 🙂 my favourite currently is “hey it’s OK” but i’m looking for new ones! Do you have any you’d recommend?

I am quite tempted to rewatch gossip girl, or even Desperate Housewives. I think i may end up choosing GOT though as the withdrawal symptoms are already hitting! That being said, you have inspired me to watch the Handmaids’ Tale 🙂

    Bumble & Be

    • The Sunday Mode

I’m loving podcasts at the moment as well too! Some I’m listening to at the moment and loving are My Favorite murder, The Heart of It and Serial. I used to really like listening to the Ladies Who Lunch podcast as well 🙂

My sister is actually re-watching Gossip Girl from the very beginning now! Re-watching GoT though sounds like such a good idea, I’ve started watching Gilmore Girls from the start but I do love me some Game of Thrones 😉

PS- yes! Watch the Handmaid’s Tale!

  • TV is my fav thing as well. A Harry Potter marathon makes my soul happy!

  • phoebe

I love the photography here, beautiful – always a visual delight 🙂
Loved these idea prompts funnily enough the one that stood out to me that i needed to do was moisturize everywhere and I always like the take a nap option!

    • The Sunday Mode

Thanks Phoebe, I need to moisturise as well! I am so lazy when it comes to moisturising but now it’s summer so I don’t think I can get away with that much longer…

  • I love this post so much! Definitely going to try some of these things tomorrow xxx
